Cars like the setback of our civilization.
The world has been destroyed by the cars in the last years and it is a consequence by of the CO2 emissions. Cars were invented to shorten distances; however, people began to use cars to be more comfortable. The oil is finishing by the big world demand and the new fuel sources needs to destroy the agriculture; it creates the same kind of human conscience of consumption and hunger problems.
The car was invented by Karl Benz in 1886 in Germany and the maximum velocity was 20 km/h. The fuel was sold in pharmacies where people just could to acquire a few quantity. Then, Henry Ford created a chain montage to make many cars at the same time. Finally, people could buy a new kind of transport to use in the new roads.
In the 90´s, Japanese cars were introduced in the world market with a new point of view, low price – same performance. Everybody around the world could buy a new car with financial facilities and a global market with fewer taxes. New roads were done on the third world and obviously the demand grew up and the pollution too.
Nowadays, people are using their cars just to go anywhere, without thinking on other alternative like public transport or a sharing car. They don’t think about against of using cars these days like pollution. Petrol has a high price because is a no renewable resource and the big companies have every day less of their precious asset. Nevertheless, population is increasing and the new kind of cars that save more money and fuel are increasing too, so, the CO2 emissions can’t stop or diminish.
The new way of decreasing the CO2 emissions is creating biofuels. On the other hand, to satisfy the demand is necessary a big extension of land. Governments are considering this option against the health food, forgetting the most important strategies to save the environment. The first one is create new rules that punish severely, and the second one is change the people conscience.
“Much of the fuel that Europeans use will be imported from Brazil, where the Amazon is being burned to plant more sugar and soybeans, and Southeast Asia, where oil palm plantations are destroying the rainforest habitat of orangutans and many other species. Species are dying for our driving.”[1]
Individual cars are the wrong idea that we have to change. Spanish government is thinking about new kind of public transport that has special roads to share´s cars, and these cars would go to a constant velocity. This is the best option to minimize the world’s destruction made by the humans.
